GlobalSign Enters Sales Contract with Marubeni Infotec
Tokyo – September 24, 2008 – GMO Hosting & Security consolidated subsidiary and digital certificate provider, GlobalSign has signed a sales contract with Marubeni Infotec Corporation. Beginning today Marubeni Infotec will sell GlobalSign code signing certificates to around 6,000 distributors and suppliers.
In recent years there have been a growing number of instances in which viruses are spread or confidential information is leaked as a result of malicious programs embedded by a third party into software purchased online. Software vendors must take responsibility for software reaching their users safely and take steps against threats such as tampering and fraud. Digitally signing (code signing) software is the ideal way to achieve this. Code signing guarantees that when software is received by the user it is an uncompromised official release from the vendor.
However there are still too many major software vendors that are sending out software without digital signatures.
Marubeni Infotec currently trades with around 6,000 distributors and suppliers and has close relationships with many software and hardware vendors. The new sales contract will promote the usage of GlobalSign code signing certificates to these vendors. Marubeni Infotec also has business relationships with many developers and we expect they will also expand sales of the recently released Adobe® AIR® code signing certificates.
The two companies strive to expand awareness of digital signing as a technique for safe software distribution through joint seminars and other events while contributing to the development of a safe usage environment for software users.
Marubeni Infotec

Today it distributes a wide range of computer products from hardware to software through approximately 2,000 makers worldwide and 4,000 dealers, system integrators and retailers throughout Japan.
