Backgrounds and Outline of Cooperation
Since April 2017, GMO GlobalSign has been providing “Managed PKI for IoT” that is a service enabling the high-speed, automatic delivery of electronic certificates to IoT devices. “Managed PKI for IoT” is featured by its capability of issuing a large amount of certificates as many as 3,000 copies per minute – the fastest in the industry – and setting various certificate profiles according to devices and purposes. Owing to the provision of “Managed PKI for IoT” in API format, it can be swiftly and readily cooperated with a system provided by technical partners and IoT application developers.
With this background, prior to the provision of “Managed PKI for IoT”, GMO GlobalSign concluded the “Mbed IoT Device Platform Partner” agreement with Arm Ltd in March 2017. “Mbed IoT Device Platform Partner” is a partner program where the both companies, using each other’s technologies, engage in the development and business operations of new IoT devices based on the services of Arm Ltd.
The both companies have been collectively working on developments and verifications for realizing a service enabling the automatic delivery of electronic certifications from the manufacturing stage of IC chips (SoC: abbreviation of System on a Chip) (*2) to be loaded onto IoT devices.
In this context, as a milestone of such efforts, the system cooperation between “Managed PKI for IoT” of GMO GlobalSign and “Mbed Cloud” being an IoT device management cloud service provided by Arm Ltd has been started so that IoT device manufactures can readily deliver electronic certificates to the devices at a high speed.
This system cooperation enables those IoT device manufactures using “Mbed Cloud” to automatically deliver at high speed electronic certificates issued by GMO GlobalSign to respective IoT devices compatible with “Mbed OS”.
The both companies will continue to make efforts toward the realization of a service enabling the delivery of electronic certificates from the manufacturing stage of SoC.
