Tokyo – October 24, 2008 – GMO Hosting & Security consolidated subsidiary and managed services provider, GMO Managed Hosting has launched LB-s Service, a low-cost load balancing (*1) service for customers using housing (*2) services.
(*1)A load balancer is a device that distributes access requests from external networks among multiple servers. :
(*2) Housing: The customer provides their own server and the service provider houses the server and provides the backbone line. Because the customer uses their own server flexibility is high.

Web sites have become increasingly significant as communication platforms for companies. At the same time business on the Internet has become an everyday occurrence resulting in increased web site traffic. In order to maintain stable operation while supporting increased access, a website must be operated on a high availability server system able to handle increased loads. This can be achieved with a load balancer, however many companies are hesitant to introduce one due to the costs associated with purchasing the device and operating the system.
In response to this concern GMO Managed Hosting has launched the LB-s Service allowing customers to use between two and four servers and a load balancer. LB-s Service monthly fees start at just 33,600 yen (inc. tax) for vastly improved load performance, fault tolerance and stable operation.

Combining LB-s Service with a shared 100M connection makes it possible to combine a load distribution function wtith a redundant structure at a low cost comparable to that used by major web sitest.

*Maximum number of sessions per server is 2,000
*An addition set up fee is required for additional servers (15,750 yen inc. tax)
*A separate housing contract with GMO Managed Service is required.
